The Shady Pig

The Shady Pig

The Shady Pig founders entrusted Léon with their project to create a secluded hideout with the finest décor, a vintage sipping lounge where cocktail aficionados can gather and mingle.

Inspired by the glamour and decadence of the late 20’s, Léon has designed an unconventional retro-style bar that transports you off the hustle and bustle of Bali’s nightlife to Birmingham, in the secret laboratory of an oh-so-British contraband syndicate. To gain access to this secret den of iniquity, one has to find and push the unmarked black door off the main street to reveal a vintage phone box, crack the password and climb up a dim staircase.

Beyond the heavy velvet curtain, the refined and intimate atmosphere of a speakeasy creates a completely immersive and exclusive experience. Léon has fixed up the place like a sophisticated gangster noir dive bar, split into two cosy lounges with soft lightning, ceilings with wooden trims, cobbled floors and elegant chesterfield couches.

On one side, the walls are hung with small barrels of house-poured cocktails that remind an alcohol warehouse harking back to the Prohibition era. The second lounge resembles an English 19th century private club with its mismatched collection of memorabilia. Behind a marble-topped bar encaged in copper, the skilled staff craft a mix of classics and bespoke concoctions worthy of real connoisseurs. The vintage bookcase reveals the door to the bathrooms and the mantel place conceals the DJ’s booth, ready to set you right back to the great days of Gatsby.
